Visit Us: Rotary Travel Adventure in Guatemala

January 2025

Greetings San Diego Rotarians!

The Rotary Club of Lake Atitlán warmly invites you to an unforgettable week of fellowship, project visits, and cultural exploration, capped off by our annual Mardi Gras Gala in Panajachel, Guatemala.

Our English-speaking, largely expat club has a long history of hosting fellow Rotarians and showcasing the impact of Rotary’s past and ongoing efforts in our region.

Why Visit Lake Atitlán?

Lake Atitlán, a breathtaking alpine lake at 5,000 feet above sea level, is surrounded by majestic volcanoes and vibrant indigenous Maya communities. This is your chance to immerse yourself in one of the world’s most beautiful and culturally rich destinations while contributing to meaningful Rotary projects.

What to Expect:

  • Event Highlight: Our Mardi Gras Gala on March 4, a festive celebration you won’t want to miss.
  • Daily Activities: Visits to clinics, hospitals, education and training centers, and rural water systems, showcasing the work of our club through Rotary Grants.
  • Exploration: Ample time to discover the stunning lake, its charming villages, and the rich culture of the Maya people.
  • Fellowship: Meet members of our active club, connect with the community, and enjoy shared meals and social events.

I’m Mike Rosen, President of the Rotary Club of Lake Atitlán, based in Oceanside, California. My family and I will be in Panajachel from March 1–8, and I’d be delighted to guide and assist any fellow San Diego Rotarians who join us.
