Rotary Club Topeka South visit
Farron Barr of RC Topeka South (D5710) and a group of 19 Rotarians and like-minded travellers visited Panajachel this week. The focus of the visit was GG2352598, “Improving the health of the indigenous people in Patanatic and San Luis, Guatemala”. He has been involved in supporting the community up in Patanaik for some years, knows the principals that run the clinic and stayed up there rather than in the hotel in Panajachel.
This project will provide 3 interventions, the first will be a health
education program implemented by children and youth who will act as health promoters. The second intervention will be disease prevention by offering diagnostic studies for cervical and breast cancer, and the third
intervention will be primary medical care for mothers and diabetic and hypertensive patients in the community.
